Fix the cause, not just the symptom
Most callouts start the same way: the laptop is slow, the Wi-Fi dropped, or Outlook will not sign in. The tempting move is to reboot, reinstall the app, or swap a cable and leave. That is how the same job comes back next week.
Onsite I treat every ticket as a diagnosis. Event Viewer, device logs, a controlled test after each change. If a Windows update corrupted a boot, I do not just run Startup Repair and walk away - I confirm why it failed and whether the disk, drivers, or a pending update will do it again.
A professional finish means the client can use the system, understands what changed, and is less likely to call about the same fault tomorrow.
That habit came from field work with The Original PC Doctor and Geeks2U, and from running PC Scientist myself. Homes and small businesses do not have a spare technician on the floor. They need the root cause closed, then a plain-English handover - especially for elderly or non-technical clients.
